Tis the season of giving! This Christmas, the Wins for Warriors Foundation is teaming up with The War Memorial to express our gratitude for military members, veterans, and their families by hosting 1,000 Christmas Salutes. This family-friendly and joyous event will take place on December 18 at The War Memorial in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, and is free for veterans and military family members, but space is limited. Tickets are available now and should be reserved ahead of time to guarantee seating.
Doors of The War Memorial campus open at 1 pm to a winter wonderland, complete with great food, festive crafts, and entertainment. Crafts will include a Christmas card-making station as well as a care-package station, all to be sent out to deployed and/or wounded soldiers in order to bring cheer during the holidays. Santa Claus will also be in attendance and offering his support for our nation’s warriors and the mission of Wins for Warriors Foundation.
The War Memorial was chosen as the location for this event because of the beautiful space it offers as well as what it stands for. The War Memorial was built as a home in 1910 for the Alger family and was dedicated in 1949 to serve as a perpetual memorial to the 3,500 Grosse Pointe members of the military who served and the 126 who died in World War II. The Alger family wanted the house to be used to improve the quality of life in the community and to serve as a continuing center for educational and charitable activities. It has a commitment to the community in honor of veterans, which makes it the perfect place for 1,000 Christmas Salutes and all of the merry festivities that it brings to veterans and their families.
A great deal of the merriment of 1,000 Christmas Salutes will come from the two concerts performed by a nationally touring electro-pop violin sensation, called NUCLASSICA. The first performance will be at 3 pm and the second at 7 pm, and are open and free for all veteran and military families with tickets. NUCLASSICA is more than just a group of impressive musicians, it is an ensemble of young musical artists who are a part of the National Music Institute for Young Artists. They are a non-profit organization who put on amazing concerts under the direction of distinguished faculty mentors and assist with financial aid, scholarships, and recording production assistance for promising young artists.
“We know that freedom is not free and this is our way of thanking current military as well as veterans for their service and their gift of freedom to us,” said the director of NUCLASSICA, Jordan Broder. Many of the performers in the group have volunteered their time to raise funds to send care packages to veterans overseas. Some of the members of NUCLASSICA have had family members serve our country for many years, and that brings a special connection between the group and the cause.
He said that the group is excited to bring their high energy and captivating mix of classical, pop, and electronica bridges to engage audiences of all ages. They will be performing a variety of music, including a blend of Christmas, electro-pop and patriotic favorites to ensure that there is something for everyone. The group features 5 violinists, a vocalist, and a DJ. To continue with the theme, former Miss Michigan, Stacey Heisler Mason, the MC for the show will be singing the patriotic favorite, God Bless the USA.
Brooks Hoste, the Manager of Communications and Programming at the War Memorial, says that they are delighted to have NUCLASSICA back performing with them. He also said that it is an honor to continue the relationship with Wins for Warriors Foundation and they look forward to this year’s partnership as they craft a first-class experience for our nation’s bravest men and women – and their entire families.
The entire event is expected to bring in 1,000 people, so it is crucial to reserve tickets. It will be a fun-filled, joyous event with a great deal of Christmas spirit. Remembering the wonderful things that the brave men and women of the military have done for us is a reason to rejoice and celebrate, we hope that you will join us.
